Hillary Ash was awarded the Andrew Mellon Predoctoral Fellowship and GSWS Research Fund

Hillary Ash, doctoral candidate, has received the 2018-2019 Andrew Mellon Fellowship. The Mellon Fellowship is awarded to students of exceptional promise and ability when they have advanced to the dissertation stage. Hillary will use this year to conduct research and write her dissertation, which focuses on women and the early HIV/AIDS crisis in the United States.

Hillary has also received an award from the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Student Research Fund to conduct research at the University of California San Francisco’s AIDS History Project Collections this summer. The AIDS History Project contains papers from researchers, doctors, public health officials, and activists who were on the front lines of the HIV/AIDS epidemic from its earliest days.
