Pitt Qualifies Two Teams for the 2016 National Debate Tournament

For the first time since 2005, two teams of Pitt debaters will represent the William Pitt Debating Union and the University of Pittsburgh at the National Debate Tournament (NDT). The qualification process is highly competitive, and only a handful of top national squads boast multiple entries. The Pitt teams, which consist of junior Maddie Budny and sophomores Rahul Ramanna and Matthew Piekos, both qualified by finishing with one of the top six records at this year’s District VII tournament, hosted by the University of Mary Washington. They now move on to the NDT, hosted this year by Binghamton University, to debate against a field that includes the best 80 teams in the country. Best wishes to our debaters as they attempt to bring home the most coveted trophy in collegiate debate!
