Upcoming Public Debates

The William Pitt Debating Union will be hosting a free public debate at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Room G8 in the Cathedral of Learning. This is the 3rd Annual City Debate, the topic is: "Pennsylvania Should Establish a Statewide Single Payer Health Insurance System". Our Pitt team will be debating against members from the Duquesne Debate Team.  Light refreshments will be available prior to the debate.

 

The University of Pittsburgh’s William Pitt Debating Union will be hosting a free public debate at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the University Club (Ballroom B). The event is the first in the Marcella L. Finegold Memorial Public Debate Series “Addressing Inequality”. The debate is focused on bridging the disciplinary divide between humanistic and medical approaches to trans health concerns.

 

Pitt is hosting two public debates this fall. The first is an audience-centered debate workshop at 6 pm on Thursday, November 30 in CL G8, on the topic: "Should Pitt provide a new home for the Stephen Foster Statue."

 

The second is a student-led debate and deliberation at 3 pm on Friday, December 8 in CL G24, on the topic: "Pittsburgh would benefit from becoming Amazon's second headquarters (HQ2)."
