Biography

A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education in English/Speech. Dr. Jerry Shuster received his doctorate in communication and political rhetoric at the University of Pittsburgh. At the University of Pittsburgh he teaches political communication, presidential rhetoric, public speaking, and speech composition.

Representing the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Communication, he regularly does political analysis for regional, national, and international media both electronic and printed, and is a regular guest on KDKA's "Morning Show" with Larry Ritchert and John Shumway the "Mike Pintek Show", and the "Late Afternoon Show" with Mangino and Shelly Duffy. He is WTAE's political analyst and regularly appears on PCNC's "Night Talk" and it's morning show.

He is a former associate professor of communications at Robert Morris University where he taught specialized courses in journalism for broadcast media and public relations as well as political communication. 

Shuster is a Pennsylvania certified secondary school teacher and began his professional career teaching English and speech in Armstrong School district. 

A resident of Kittanning, he is a member and past president of Borough Council, current member of the board of directors of the Armstrong County Industrial Development Authority, charter president of Armstrong County's 911 system, a volunteer firefighter with Kittanning Hose Co. #1 and is currently president. He is also a member of the national championship Kittanning Fireman's Band.
