Pitt welcomes Professor John Brewer (Caltech) as a short-term visiting fellow at the Humanities Center.

Brewer, the Eli and Edye Broad Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caltech, is the author of numerous books, including The Sinews of Power: War, Money, and the English State, 1689-1783 (1989), the award-winning The Pleasures of the Imagination: English Culture in the Eighteenth Century (1997), Sentimental Murder: Love and Madness in the Eighteenth Century (2004), and The American Leonardo: A Twentieth-Century Tale of Obsession, Art, and Money (2009). He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Chicago, European University Institute in Florence, UCLA, Harvard, Yale, and Cambridge.
