Biography

Ben Bishop graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with bachelor’s degrees in Communication and Theatre, focusing on theatrical devising, solo performance, and community-engaged storytelling. After taking a year to teach art and social-emotional learning at a K-8 community school, Ben attended California State University Long Beach to earn his M.A. in Communication Studies. At CSULB, Ben’s research work included quantitative and qualitative projects exploring a variety of topics from family health communication to critical materialist/feminist rhetoric. In addition to teaching interpersonal communication and public speaking at the college level, Ben has served as a facilitator for various middle and high school programs in communication, speech/debate, and theatre for social change. Ben’s current research interests are centered around U.S. conservativism and transantagonism.
